COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On the heels of a Division II leading 4 minute, 5.06 second mile at the Univ. of New Mexico Cherry & Silver Invitational on Saturday, Adams State sophomore Craig Huffer (Newry, Victoria, Australia) has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, league officials announced Wednesday.

Huffer’s time was a NCAA Division II National Championships automatic qualifier even before the altitude adjustment, and outdistanced runner-up and teammate Keegan Calmes (Wind Lake, Wis.) by more than nine seconds.

The unadjusted time also broke the previous arena record at the Albuquerque Convention Center, which was held by 2-time NCAA Division I mile champion Lee Emmanuel of UNM.
